In December, the SOS Medical Foundation closed the year off by receiving another generous cheque, this time from the Penticton Regional Hospital Auxiliary to be applied to their pledge for the $10 million Oncology campaign.
Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥œThis amazing group of individuals has sponsored two namings for the new clinic, one for Ambulatory Care and one for a chemotherapy chair.
Also, this past December, the hospital gift shop Treasures and Trinkets made a $30,000 donation to the oncology clinic.
Over 75 years ago, when the Penticton Regional Hospital Gift shop opened its booth to sell knitted items for babies, they probably didnÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™t imagine fast-forwarding to 2022 and signing a pledge to raise $200,000 for the upcoming Oncology Clinic at PRH.
The volunteer-run gift shop inside the hospital is one step closer to making good on its pledge to raise $200,000 for the local oncology clinic with that $30,000 donation.
On Dec. 4, 2023, the Summerland Health-Care Auxiliary presented a cheque for $150,000 to the medical foundation.
The donation is part of a five-year commitment by the auxiliary to raise $1 million for the oncology unit, but the auxiliary is ahead of schedule in its fundraising efforts.
Since the beginning of this year, the auxiliary has raised $350,000, more than one-third of its promised target.
The SOS Medical Foundation needs your help in raising $10 million to help expand the oncology department for the South Okanagan and Similkameen, meaning double the space for cancer patients.
