The District of Lake Country is inviting families to the annual Halloween bonfire and fireworks at Beasley Park.

The Lake Country Fire Department, Parks and Rec, and Lions Club teamed up to plan the evening which will include candy, hot chocolate, and hot dogs.

Tonight's (Oct. 31) festivities run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with fireworks scheduled for 8 p.m.

People are encouraged to walk or carpool as parking will be limited.

A number of tips to stay safe on Halloween were shared to the from the local police and firefighters. Tips include using glow sticks and flashlights to be visible, don't let children trick-or-treat alone, and double check candy before allowing the kids to dive in.

"Parents are warned that there are THC-infused candy packages that are now disguised as popular candies."
