BC Hydro is offering in-store discounts on select energy-efficient LED bulbs, lighting fixtures and controls to help manage electricity use with products that use at least 75 per cent less energy. Until April 13, customers can save on energy-saving products that can last up to 20 years.

Residential lighting can account for 15 per cent of a householdÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s electricity use. BC Hydro is encouraging customers to take advantage of in-store discounts to make the switch to energy-efficient lighting that will help save on electricity costs in the long run.

Customers can get up to a $10 instant rebate on select ENERGY STAR LED bulbs and $5 on lighting fixtures like ceiling mounts, chandeliers and floor lamps. Customers can also save $3 on select lighting control systems like dimmers, timers and motion sensors.

Last year, more than 500,000 ENERGY STAR LED bulbs were purchased through BC Hydro rebates. BC Hydro is partnering with seven major retailers, for a total of 250 locations, across the province to offer these discounts, including:

· Canadian Tire

· Costco

· Home Hardware

· London Drugs

· Lowes

· The Home Depot

· RONA

BC Hydro is also offering customers the chance to win one of three energy-saving prizes through a conservation contest in the month of March. Prizes include a Maytag washer and dryer, an iRobot Roomba vacuum and a Nest thermostat package.
