This Saturday at participating Save On Foods, Local Rotary clubs are marking their Rotary At Work Day with the lofty goal of collecting 15,200 pounds of food for the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank.
香蕉视频直播(It's) because I might be slightly competitive," said Marjolein Lloyd, Westbank Rotary member and event organizer, wryly.
The Kamloops and Chase clubs have been enormously successful in their food drives since 2007, now collecting approximately 70,000 lbs of food twice a year by going door to door. In their first year, they collected an impressive 15,000 lbs.
"For our first time out, we香蕉视频直播檇 like to at least meet that goal and since the Food Bank香蕉视频直播檚 apple bins hold approximately 800 pounds of food each, I think 19 bins sounds pretty good," said Lloyd. "Nineteen X 800 = 15,200. Voila!"
In addition to competition, there's also the drive to help out the community.
Regardless, the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank is game.
香蕉视频直播淲e love big goals. Bring it on,香蕉视频直播 said Ami Catriona, director of community relations. 香蕉视频直播淭he timing is perfect as we work to stock our shelves for the summer. When schools are closed, the need for Kids Snack Packs and family nutrition programs is higher and the Rotary food drive will make a huge impact on that. We are so grateful for their enthusiastic support.香蕉视频直播
