A Kelowna business is collaborating with a local animal rescue to help more pets in need across the Okanagan.

Dan Mulgrew, the owner of Tonics Pub & Grill, Social 242 and Yamas Greek Restaurant, was on vacation earlier this year in Mexico when he came across a drink menu where a portion of the money from one of the beverages went to a local charity.

Mulgrew, who was in the middle of designing his own drink menu, decided that the idea was something that he could expand on and take back home.

香蕉视频直播淲e are offering a double cocktail at all three locations, called the Cats and Doggies. And, $2 from each drink will go to the Okanagan Humane Society,香蕉视频直播 explained Mulgrew.

The drink is a rum, lemon and watermelon concoction, according to Mulgrew.

香蕉视频直播淲e wanted to do a charity collab, and we wanted to make sure the money stayed local with a non-profit that spends a majority of its donations on its cause. After talking to a few people about the work the Okanagan Humane Society does and the number of animals they have rescued already this year, we are proud to collaborate with them,香蕉视频直播 said Mulgrew.

He was impressed with the dedication of OHS volunteers and the fact the charity operates without a shelter and is completely foster-based.

香蕉视频直播淲e love pets here, I have two cats, and most of my staff have pets, so this was the right charity to pair with,香蕉视频直播 said Mulgrew.

Alysha Boehm with Okanagan Humane Society was ecstatic when she heard about the cocktail to support animals in need.

香蕉视频直播淲e are so grateful for this creative opportunity that Dan and his team have put together as a way of giving back to OHS. It香蕉视频直播檚 been a record-breaking year and the support and recognition from our community is so appreciated by everyone on our dedicated team,香蕉视频直播 she said. 香蕉视频直播淭hank you to everyone who chooses to order the Cats and Doggies, we hope you enjoy the drink.香蕉视频直播

In July, the Okanagan Humane Society (OHS) found homes for more than 100 animals across the region. And, August is on track to adopt out even more animals than the month previous.

As a foster-based, volunteer-powered organization, 95 per cent of every dollar raised goes directly to medical care for animals. In addition to its Rescue Program, OHS also makes spay/neuter accessible to low-income families to help prevent pet overpopulation and end the unnecessary suffering of animals.

In 2023, OHS assisted more than 2,500 animals.
